Upholstering slacker... that's me

Okay, so I'm a huge slacker.  Not only have I not re-caned or re-upholstered this chair yet, but I have recently acquired something else to add to my list of furniture hoarding.  Something else that I need to get upholstered.  Something else that I have no room for.  Why is this such an ordeal for me?  Okay, so I purchased this loveseat/settee from Craigslist.  It was cheap people so my eyes were wide open and I gave in.

I gave in to my imagination and the notion that I actually had a perfect spot for this.  Well I don't really have a spot per say, but I do know that I'm getting that seat cushion and those pillows re-upholstered (no seriously, I am this time) in a classic blue ticking stripe.

Navy vs. blue I haven't decided yet.  But the ticking stripe is a classic, well-rounded choice, that will look good in most any setting.  My grandmother had hand-me-down homemade feather pillows for my brother and I as a child and this is the fabric that they were made from.  A durable fabric with a touch of sentimental value.

Daydreaming...

OMG this has been one heck of a week! Work is kicking my busy little butt so when I saw this photo from the most recent issue of Lonny... I had to take a quick mental break.  Oh how I would love to have a porch area with woods and trees all around so my friends and I could sit and eat/drink at this cute little table with pretty lights floating above... okay my two seconds of daydreaming are up.  Now back to work!

XOXO: Craigslist Leather Barrel Back Chair

Scouring through Craigslist this morning, this is what caught my attention.  A leather barrel back chair that the owners paid $700 for, but hardly used.  If you live in the Nashville area it could be yours for $300.  This would look great in a study room or home office.  Wish I had a place for it!

What I want in a dining room

The moment I saw these dining chairs and table from Suzanne and Lauren's recent trip to the ever-popular Brimfield show, I've been wishing this is what my dining room chairs and table looked like.  I even think this antique white would look great with the fabric from my newly upholstered seat bottoms.  If only I had the patience and know-how to actually make my cherry finish dining set look this good.

I love the look of demure white furniture with other bold accents in a room.  If I had to envision the dining room I would want it would be a mix of formal and playful.  I would first take this antique white dining table set and place it in a room with medium gray walls.

Benjamin Moore paint samples.  I'd go for the Coventry gray
Next I'd add a splash of color with this beautiful rug.

Don't forget the chandelier!  Every dining needs one of these - formal or simple in style.

On one side of the room I would definitely have a beautiful buffet table with a gorgeous mirror over top and various accent pieces adorning the top of the console.  Especially two large alabaster lamps to anchor each side.

A little boy's room makeover

I think decorating for a little girl or boy's room will be so much fun when the time comes.  But not too soon!  I'm really digging what Janell over at Isabella & Max Rooms did for her son Max's geograhpy themed room.  As I previously mentioned - I'm a geography lover myself.

Ohmygosh I really wish we had an Ikea because I have been wanting that adorable yellow rug!  And those chair makeovers are fabulous too!  Look at part of the wall, it's a chalkboard which I adore because kids have the best imaginations and watching those come alive is so much fun.  But my favorite part of the room is the compass artwork around the light fixture.  How creative...

Super cuteness all around!
