A few pics from a very sad camera phone

Thanks to my forgetfulness of carrying along a legit camera, coupled with the poor picture quality on my camera phone (still won't succumb to purchasing a smartphone) - I tried to capture a few of my favs from antique browsing this weekend.  Hopefully I can remember that camera next time.

Federal bulls eye eagle mirror

Really cool metal mailbox and filing cabinet
A boat painting with bold frame

I think I'm going to go back for that little boat painting.  It would fit perfectly in a picture montage on one single wall like this...

What I want right now

Cute vintage style table linens with ticking stripes
An antique napkin holder than I can turn into an eye catching stationary display

A cool lighting fixture, that's just as pretty as a classic chandelier
A Louis ghost chair, but at a price I can afford

Enough is enough Mr. Snowman

I cannot remember the last time Nashville had so much snow!  Where was all this when I was a kid?!  It's a shame that we once used to pull on our gloves, boots and drag out the sleds to now having to pull on our gloves, boots and look for the ice scrapper.  In any case, I will keep my eyes ahead to spring and my feet propped by the fire.  Preferably near one of these fine pieces...

MLK Day

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

"At the center of non-violence stands the principle of love."

"Almost always, the creative dedicated minority has made the world better."

"Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step."

Dirt cheap bowls at Anthro

Before I hit the gym last night, I made a slight detour into Anthropologie.  The store is WAY less crowded on a weekday evening and I wanted to see what all was on sale.  Well to my surprise these adorable and colorful bowls had been marked down to $1.95 each.  I have dreams of one day filling my kitchen cabinets with all white stoneware so everything coordinates, but I just can't seem to veer away from all the pretty colors.  So instead I took home two of the lilac bowls and two of the mushroom colors.  It's the little (and cheap) things that make me happy :)

While I was there I also picked up the "Buck" nesting bowl set.  It was on sale as well and had caught my eye on previous occasions.  Yes, it's very much a matter of taste, but I think this will look very striking and pretty on a mantle, bookshelf or hallway vignette.  Plus I like odd tchotchkes.

Moving sucks

This is what my home is going to be full of over the next few weeks (insert pouting, sad face here).  R and I found out that the owner is moving back to town and wants to live in her old place, so out we go.  I am not excited at all about packing up my things and hiring people to move all my furniture into storage.  I'm trying to think positively about the situation, but we just love the location and the $ of our rent.  Hopefully something even better will come along!

Gulping guppy

I recently picked up this tiny ring dish at Anthro.  I love how whimsical it is, and the weight is really nice too.  Right now I have it sitting on my vanity to hold a few rings, but I'll probably end up sitting it on a bookshelf as part of a sweet vignette.
